Good Times.....

This week has went by so fast! I cannot BELIEVE it's almost been a week since I have posted! I guess it will be busy like this up until Christmas... and then New Years.... and then HOPEFULLY up until my husband gets here!!!

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and I had a GREAT time just hanging out with both my family and Matt's family (well, I guess they're technically my family too, now!!! :) ) I ate ALL day long it seemed! Matt said he got to get some turkey and ham and mashed potatoes which made me excited that he was able to get a LITTLE taste of home!

Here are a few pictures that I took yesterday....

Food at Nanny's! YUM... and this was AFTER a lot of it was eaten!

I was very brave this morning and ventured out to the stores at 3:30 AM. This was my first "Black Friday" experience and I actually enjoyed it. The deals were not as good as I would have hoped, but I got a lot of our Christmas shopping for everyone knocked out, so that's definitely a positive!

I really missed Matt yesterday, but I have to keep reminding myself that he will be here next year; that helps a lot!! I know all of his family misses him too and can't wait for us all to spend this time together next year, hopefully!

The Clemson/Carolina Game is this weekend, so I'll definitely be watching it while I'm working! I'm torn between both teams... maybe I'll just pick the one that wins ;-) hehe

Hope everyone else also had a great Thanksgiving!

"I Just Got A Letter"

No, this is not Blue's Clue's, but I did get a letter in the mail today! :-) It was from Matt's LTC Casey noting that he had the pleasure of pinning Matt with the Battallion's first Army Achievement Medal while they have been over there. Matt helped to catch a couple of the "bad guys". I am so, so proud of my husband! :-)

The First Blog! :)

So I figured I would start this blog for the people that don't get to talk to Matt and I very often and to keep everyone updated on things.

It's been twelve weeks since Matt deployed and if I said it got easier every week, I'd be lying. But, week after week, it's a step in the right direction and we only have fourty more to go until he is back in the states for good! (Well, at least for another year) I find more and more ways to love my amazing husband every day.

The military life is hard, much harder than I could have ever imagined, but I would not trade it for anything in the world. I am so proud of my husband and everything that he has done and is doing for our country and for my freedom. If you want to send Matt a letter, package, anything... just shoot me an email and I will give you his address (as long as I/he knows you ;-)

So, when will we be together again? I'd LOVE to say I know of a date, but unfortunantly I do not know one. Matt will be getting R&R sometime in January (Oh, by the way, I cannot post exact dates anyway due to security issues) and we'll get to spend fifteen days with him! I'm looking SO forward to it!!! Great times with our families and hopefully a little alone time ;-) ... he's my husband now, I can say that. He will be back for good sometime around August-September of '09 (unless the US Army decides to prolong this deployment). At that point, we will be in Colorado Springs, CO again. We're not sure at this point whether or not we will be staying out there or will be going somewhere else. Some of the places we've discussed are Hawaii, Germany, and Washington (the state). Who knows though, this life is definitely a spontaneous one and we could be in Alaska for all we know!!

Speaking of Alaska (and the cold), it's FREEZING outside tonight. Christmas is coming up. I would like to say that I'm excited about it..... which I am, just not as excited as I normally am. I'm really surprised at just how much this time of year has been consumed with the thoughts of getting people things and how much it will cost, etc. I, personally, would love just hang out with my family and friends. (Or, in a perfect world, to have my husband home safe and sound.) I just think Christmas has become too commercialized. It's all about spending time with the ones you love and that's what I intend on doing (with the exception of the one I love the most).

We are both so happy to have such a great support system of family and friends. I will keep this blog updated as I hear things from Matt and also as this deployment and our life together progresses.
