"No, thank you", "pretty princess dress!!" & "castles"

The title of this blog pretty much sums up what I hear on a daily basis. While I'm happy that Carson uses "No, thank you" rather than just "no", it has become something that she says on a daily.... maybe even hourly.... basis these days. I'll tell her that she needs to take a nap and she'll repeatedly say "no, thank you! no, thank you! nooooooooo, thank you!" She also says "pretty princess dress!!!" every hour. It's a shirt that I had in my closet. It's black with white lace and I guess it just makes her feel "pretty". She wears it ALL THE TIME and when I have to wash it (like today), she asks for it continuously. Seriously, if I could count the times I have heard that phrase today... well, I don't think I could count the number of times. I love that she feels like a princess in it, but when we have to go somewhere, it's difficult to convince her to put on actual clothes! Haha. Carson also likes to make "castles" every day. Out of regular blocks. Yesterday, as she was making her castle, I asked her if she was building a castle for mommy... she promptly replied, "No, Daddy's castleeee!". So, of course, we had to show him when he got home from work. Those are little  happenings and things going on in Carson's little world :)
All of my blogs have pretty much been about Carson and I feel a little guilty that I haven't even mentioned Kennedy. We went for my 30 week checkup Monday and everything is going great. I can't wait to see them together. Only (about) ten more weeks and we will have a newborn in our house, which is crazy to me! I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has gone compared to my pregnancy with Carson and I feel so unprepared for some reason. I'll hopefully be getting out clothes this weekend to see what we have for our soon-to-be little baby girl! :) Sleeping is getting a little more difficult these days because I have to use the bathroom about every two hours. It's just preparing me for those first few months (or, in Carson's case... first year) of getting up throughout the night for another sweet girl.
Other than our two girls, everything is going great in the Alewine household. Matt has been working long, long hours and is exhausted when he gets home, but hopefully after the inauguration things will slow down for him! :) 'Til next time....

A Visit to Nana's

Two blogs within a week... maybe I can stick to this! Who am I kidding... it'll probably stop by next week, but I really hope that doesn't happen. Not much has been going on with us this week. I started another class and I'm happy to report that I still have a 4.0, which is pretty exciting for me. Carson is her normal little "princess" self. Everything she does, she is so enthusiastic about.
Matt brought us to my mom's for the week so I could get out of the house, go to work with her and we could spend some time with "Nana" since Matt has had to work really long hours lately. The reason I say "to get out of the house" is because we only have one car at this time. We never had a problem with just one car in the past because Matt rode his motorcycle or was deployed. However, now the traffic is worse since we've moved and the weather is quite a bit cooler, so he needs that car. We are hoping to get another automobile soon because I am about to lose my mind! One can only do so much cleaning. SO, until we figure that out, we decided I would come down here for a week. I went to work yesterday with Mom to help her out and I have to say, I do miss working. I miss the interaction. I miss being able to talk with people other than a two year old. (However, I think having a car for myself is going to help with that situation.).
Anyway, since we've been here, Carson has been missing Matt, so I took this video of her in the tub last night. She. Is. So. Cute. And... I know Matt liked the video. :)

New Year....more blogging?

I've noticed a trend in all of my posts on this "blog", if you even want to call it that. After reading other peoples daily/weekly/even monthly blogs and thinking to myself "that will be a great thing for their children to read one day" or "I'm sure they'll be able to look back on their blog and relive some of their great memories", I figured I should TRY to get on the blogging-train again (not just for myself, but for my girls!)
Since I last blogged there have been SO many things that have happened in our little world. Matt came home safely from Afghanistan, we moved from Colorado to Virginia and bought our first home and also found out we are expecting a little one in just a few months (wow, it has been a longgggg time!). After reading through a few previous entries I posted, I remember writing that I couldn't wait until Matt would pull into our driveway and Carson would say "Daddy's home!!!". Thankfully, she does just that and I melt a little every time.
Speaking of our sweet Carson.... she is the sweetest little girl. I am amazed at how much she is talking now and how she can repeat almost anything you ask her to say. She loves people and will talk to almost anyone she meets. She's always on the go and doesn't like to sit down for very long. I have to say, after having ALL of my attention for the past two years, I'm wondering how life with be after our new little girl Kennedy comes into the picture. I hope Carson doesn't feel jealous or that she's somehow been "replaced" and that she will realize the special place in my heart she will always have. At this point in her little two year old world, she has started to say some funny little things. For example, she told me the other morning to "chill out, Mommy!". I don't know if she really even knows what she's saying, but it's so funny to hear that come out of her mouth. For some reason, she's also a picky eater and not a fan of meat, which is surprising to me. Her favorite thing to eat is mac and cheese (surprise!) and she requests it any time we go out to eat. She's great at using her manners even though we haven't mastered the "sir's" and "ma'am's" quite yet. She'll say "no, thank you" or just "thank you" all the time and I love to hear her say that. Hopefully I will be better at blogging this year and it will last more than a couple of days. I really would like to write down these precious moments in our lives so that one day when I'm an "empty nester" I can look back fondly at our little life and how these two, precious girls have grown. I have a feeling I will need to set some kind of alarm on my phone to remind me to do it, but I can hope, right?
Here's to a better year of blogging and capturing memories!
